Speaking in Chicago in 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt said, "Speak
softly and carry a big stick." This fits the Perfectos first tender Ted "Doc"
Yemm. Yemm, a St. Louis native, is one of the Perfectos heavy sluggers
from the lefty side of the plate. Yemm also hurls and can be found at right
scout as well. "I enjoy vintage baseball because sportsmanship is
balanced with competitiveness and respect for your opponent is valued,"
Yemm said. A past team president, Yemm played varsity baseball in high
school before an article in the Suburban Journal newspaper alerted him
about the Perfectos. Yemm joined the team in 2002 and has been with the
club ever since. He has made some of the big trips with the team, including
playing in the Ohio Cup Festival. "I have enjoyed seeing the organization
grow and improve over time," said Yemm. Yemm enjoys the club's current
home, Lafayette Park, stating he enjoys the eagerness of the Lafayette Park
cranks to learn about the vintage game.
