Mark "King" Kennedy
St. Louis Perfectos Base Ball Club
|

Through the history of the St. Louis Perfectos vintage base ball club, one of
the most prolific hurlers has been Mark "King" Kennedy. Kennedy has
endured as one of the mainstays of the pitching rotation through the
changes in hurling styles. And he is expected to anchor the rotation once
again in 2008. Kennedy, a native of St. Louis, grew up around baseball He
played baseball through his elementary school years and then through high
school. As he entered his adult years, he cycled into slow-pitch softball.
Later, he came back to baseball, playing weekly games in North St. Louis
County before he became a founding member of the St. Louis Perfectos
club in 2002. King learned of the coming club at the Winter Warm Up from
the SABR (Society for American Baseball Research) booth. Kennedy loves
playing at Lafayette Park and the local cranks. "The park is the perfect
setting because modern trappings are pretty much left behind once you
enter the park," said Kennedy. "What can you say about the people of
Lafayette Square? We’ll never find better support." Kennedy also enjoys
playing at Beautiful Turnbrough Field in Decatur, Ill., the home of the Rock
Springs Ground Squirrels, and at the Ohio Cup Festival in Columbus.
