Micah "Prophet" Sage loves the fact that anyone can play vintage base ball.
"While there's times were we really get into the games, the game's spirit
isn't ultra competitive," said Prophet. "I find that the main mission isn't
winning the game (although, winning is always in one's mind), but
spreading the game to new 'cranks.' Another reason why I like the game is
because I'm much better at this game than when I played Little League
baseball. In other words, you don't have to be a great athlete, a great
modern baseball player to do well and enjoy playing the vintage game."
Sage, a native of University City, joined the Perfectos during the 2007
season. He's a friend of Perfectos' stalwart Mark "Wheels" Olmsted and
came to the Perfectos on Olmsted's recommendation. Prophet calls his
first hit, and first ace tallied, his favorite moments as a Perfecto. Sage feels
Lafayette Park is a great place to play vintage base ball. "Lafayette Park
offers a historic backdrop for our vintage game," Prophet said. He said he
isn't sure about other favorite venues, but as he keeps playing, he will
develop a fondness for the road sites.
