Dave "Shutterbug" Moore
The Vinatge Game
Lafayette Park
St. Louis Perfectos Base Ball Club
One of the oddest matches in Perfectos
history resulted in Dave "Shutterbug"
Moore joining the team. Playing the St.
Louis Unions in Florissant on St.
Patrick's Day, 2007, Moore entered action
in the second game of practice
doubleheader. The event was odd in the
fact it snowed for much of the time and
the flakes got pretty big during some
periods. Despite the weather conditions,
Moore decided to become part of the
Perfectos family following his trial with
the team. "I subbed during the second
game of the double header with the
Unions on St. Patrick's Day, and got
hooked," Moore said. He picked up his
nickname for his skills with a camera
and has used the team as his subject
several times. Some of Shutterbug's
work can be found in the varioius
publications and communications of the
Perfectos.
Moore played in many matches during
his rookie season. "I enjoy vintage
baseball because it give me a chance to
play a game I love, even though my skills
are somewhat lacking," Shutterbug said.
"I've met a lot of great people and been
to some fun places. And I love
describing the game to people and
watching their reactions." Moore has had
many highlights in his tenure with the
team. "The Ohio Cup in Columbus, with
so many other teams around, and sitting
in 30 degree weather (with snow!)
watching the team play on St. Patrick's
Day have been my favorite memories,"
stated Shutterbug. Moore is from
Florissant and played Little League
baseball growing up. Besides Lafayette
Park, Moore likes playing in Columbus,
Ohio, at the Ohio Cup. "All of the fields in
Columbus were exciting, because the
terrain was so varied," Shutterbug said.
"Every field played differently, so it was
always an adventure as to how the ball
would react."
